USB pen with XP

I got the free USB pen from PC magazine and have just got round to using it. It works fine on ME but I can't get drivers to instal on XP. The disk is supplied with drivers, but when I try to instal them, I get a message saying drivers are for Windows 98 only. According to instructions, it's supposed to work with XP. The computer does not instal any drivers automatically. I've searched web for drivers and all I've found are the Win98 drivers that don't work.
Has anybody else had this problem?
Any advice welcome. Thanks guys

No nothing shows up. It's shown as an Unknown Device. Under Driver information it says no drivers have been installed.0

leave the usb pen connected, then run add/remove hardware wizard from control panelsmile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

Tried that, but it doesn't install any Microsoft drivers. When I try to run the Driver disk, XP doesn't recognise the Win 98 driver supplied with the unit.0

I've got one too <from computer mag> and mine is working fine with XP. You don't need any drivers for USB devices with XP - USB is supported from Win98SE onwards if I remember correctly. It should be plug'n'play. <or plug'n'pray as some say
>
When I plug mine it, it immediately shows the symbol for a USB connected device in the bottom right hand corner of your screen - a little grey rectangle with a green arrow above it.
Automatically a window pops up showing the contents of the USB flash pen - in my case it's 'Removable Drive F' in My Computer, it may show as a different drive on yours.
Remember when you're finished, to remove a USB device safely otherwise it could affect your data. To do this, double click the symbol with the green arrow in the bottom right hand corner that I mentioned. This will open a small window and follow prompts to quit safely BEFORE removing your USB device.0 -
Tried to get drivers from https://www.drivers.com,but they wanted $30 first.Haven't been able to find updated drivers any place on the web.
The pen works fine on ME but not on XP. It just doesn't show up anywhere. I assumed it was a driver problem, because I get the message that no drivers are installed. I've never had any other problem with USB devices.Don't know if it's the pen or the computer that's dodgy.
Thanks to everone who's replied so far0 -
Maybe worth trying the USB pen on another computer which has XP. That way you'll see if it is working ok.0

I don't think there's any point in looking for other or updated drivers, as no driver is needed for XP.
Did you uninstall the Win98 driver before re-trying the pen, as that may be stopping the plug-and-play from working?0 -
Problem now solved. A friend suggested plugging it in when computer was on, and much to my surprise, it worked. I always thought hardware had to be plugged in when computer was off, but they say no.0
