hi there i assume you used a ftp prog to up load it to the site and had a username and password? and do you mean you have loaded it up and then just want to create a link so the other person can download it? if not just get the other person to log on via ftp and download it from the site that way or even better just winzip the powerpoint presentation and email it !
hope this helps0 -
If you have uploaded it direct to the server then it will be http://www.yourwebsite.co.uk/powerpointfile.ppt if you have uploaded it to a folder then it will be http://www.yourwebsite.co.uk/foldername/powerpointfile.pptEstate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0

Hi there,
I have a site hosted with godaddy and use dreamweaver to upload.
I added the ppt file to my local site and uploaded it. It is not in a folder on the local site, it is just in the site folder (e.g. mysitefolder/file.ppt.
I then opened another page in the site - mysitefolder/linkpage.html.
I created a hyperlink from this page to file.ppt.
I uploaded both linkpage.html and file.ppt.
However, it comes up with a 404 page when I type https://www.mysite.com/linkpage.html and click on the link
Can you see where I may be going wrong?
Thanks for helping0 -
what happens if you right click on the link? can you save the file?0
-
It starts to save the file, then a pop up says
internet explorer cannot download file.ppt from https://www.mysite.com. Internet explorer was not able to open this internet site. The requested site is unavailable or cannot be found. please try again later.
In firefox, it comes up with the save page, but just fizzles out - doesn't download and doesn't give an error message. I've checked the download folder and it's not in there0 -
sounds like there's a problem with the file name. or it's not in the root folder.. if it had the right file name and was in the right folder it should just download properly..0

There should be no spaces in the file name. You did not have to create a new page for it eitherEstate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0

Are/have you used direct links or relative links? goggle if unsure
Make sure the file is there - use an ftp prog or your hosts file manager this may also give you the correct url for the file. If you cant find it its not there, or its in the wrong directory/folder.0
