Laptop losing mouse connection :-(

Its getting really annoying now!!

I have a sony vaio and the last couple of days the mouse stops working. Its a wired mouse so plugged into one of the USB ports, it works fine then suddenly nothing, you can see the arrow but it won't move, the only way to get it to work again is by unplugging it and plugging it back in.

I have tried it in a different port but the same thing happens, its a mini laser mouse.

Is it a connection issue or is the mouse on his way out? Not sure i want to buy another one if its a different problem so thought I would ask here!

Thanks

With my last mouse, same fault was a sign of failure I'm afraid - time maybe to prepare for a nice burial...

Worth checking first though - check the mouse manufacturers website for any drivers/updates. Try the mouse on another PC?

If other things work ok in the usb ports then it's probably the mouse..

Sounds like the mouse is going to me.I have the same problem at the moment with my wired mouse on my acer aspire i have to unplug and re-plug it back in then it starts to work again.

I am thinking of getting a cheap one from argos etc just incase its not then i have not lost a load of money on a decent mouse when they all do the same job.

Thanks thought it might be on its way out since it was fine until a few days ago and not done anything different to my laptop. I play an online game and my friends aren't too happy when they die as I can't heal them cause my mouse won't move :D

Time to get another, just need to remember where I got this one, as its my most fav mouse ever :P

it's not by any chance a black optical mouse, scroll wheel in the middle and silver round the edge of the mouse? and it's got a retractable cable..

if it is you got it from Asda and it cost £6 and for some reason they have a limited lifespan because i'm on my third - the last two did the same as yours.
