Microsoft Money

Options
I just decided it was about time I got my finances in order and I used to use Microsoft Money. Anyway, in case you didn't know, you can now get it free because they've stopped supporting it.

Does all the stuff you'd expect, you just don't get support.

I've just tried this version of Money but if fails to open my old money file which was generated with V12 of Money. Does anybody know how to convert a V12 money file to work with this version (V17)?
Never let it get you down... unless it really is as bad as it seems.

The Sunset version is targeted at the US, the reason you can't convert is in the small print on the page:
The Sunset version cannot convert files created by regional (non-US) versions of Money

You can't. You could try exporting each account as Loose QIF, then import it into a new file in the new version of money. However, if you've got Money 2004 or 2005 UK, I don't see there's much advantage to having the sunset edition. All looks the same.

If you're just starting then don't bother with MS Money. Get something which is continued to be supported.
