Section 75 in relation to a service

A company is offering us a deal where by a service which normally cost £90 per annum, we can have for a lifetime for £199. This lifetime would probably be only 5 years as it only lasts as long as you have the product which the service relates to. I am worried that the company is offering this as it is in need of cash and in the near future this cash will run out and the company will fold.

I normally pay for this service via my credit card but wondered if section 75 would relate to this and if so for how long i.e if company went bust in 18 months say, and how would they work out how much I could claim considering we had had the service for a period of time?

Two other things to note. Cost of service last year was only £40. There are few other suppliers of this service and if we did change we would have to pay an initial cost of a peice of kit needed for the service. The kit we currently have we got free with the product but can only be used by the company we are currently with.

I knw all this is a bit cryptic but if I said the co. name or even the service (probably only a few providers) I am worried that there might be problems.

You really need to be naming the company so we can have a look at what is being sold.

Ultimately thou - if you paid for the service 5 years at a contract price of £199.

If the company went down after 1 year your bank would refund you via a chargeback or Section 75 on a pro rata basis as you would have used 1 year service or at least had access to use it leaving you with a refund in this example of around £159.

In basic terms you have 6 years to claim. Although there are various other things than can possibly extend this.

    All the best OP.
