The Range Store Warning

I would avoid The Range stores for buying any furniture. Look at Dooyoo for very poor reviews, but my experience of their 'customer support' is terrible.

We saw a bed on show and were told that was the last one (turns out it wasn't). It had a couple of small scratches and so they knocked off £50. They said it was 'sold as seen' so we had a good look around and it seemed ok. However, they said we couldn't dismantle it - they had too. My wife picked the bed up the following day wrapped in bubble wrap.

On unpacking the glass panel on the headboard was chipped! They had sheared off a bolt, rounded a screw in bolt so that it was loose, and would not either tighten or undo...and so on...

At first the store was very good offering a new replacement (yes they found they did have new ones) - however, they needed to deliver the new one and pick up the old one on the same day....the bed was four hours drive from where we live! I offered to buy a new bed from them deliver it, and return the old one to them and pick up my deposit. Then suddenly they say the exchange must take place within the next four days, and we are on holiday!!

Customer service - I think not!

Don't buy any furniture from THE RANGE stores:mad:

I second this - Think they are a decent shop generally but the two issues I have are with furniture and customer service.

Staff are poorly trained, not particularly knowledgable or helpful and dont seem motivated. HIgh turnouver of people in our local one.

Shame as they have a good range of items at fair prices.

Twice I've tried to order furniture from The Range and twice I've been told we'll have to wait approx. 6 weeks for delivery. I couldn't wait that long the 1st time but on the 2nd occasion we decided to place order because the item was really very nice & a very good price. We're hoping for delivery around the 4th July so keeping fingers crossed. I think it's awful that in the majority of furniture shops you have to wait so long for delivery. I do like The Range but do think they could organise their stock levels a lot better than they do.

I've also had a nightmare experience from The Range. Back in March I ordered a dining table and chairs from the website, delivery would be in 7-14 working days it said. In April I emailed, asking where it was, no response. Emailed again, and was told my order was being processed, and apologies for the delay, reiterating what their delivery timescales are (even though they had gone way past them at this point!). Finally at the beginning of May I phoned up customer services, and was told that my table and chairs were 'ready for dispatch' and he would make sure they were delivered the next day (friday), but 'if the drivers are really busy' it might be monday instead.

We had to ask a friend to wait in all day friday (as they don't give you a time slot) and it never arrives. Same friend agreed to wait in all day monday for us aswell, when at 3pm, after 3 MONTHS, it finally arrived. He checked a couple of boxes before the driver left, which were fine. However when we came home from work, we checked the box containing the glass top, and it was absolutely smashed into pieces. Not cracked, but in hundreds of little glass 'bricks' at the bottom of the box. Absolutely furious! They gave me a full refund and collected the item the next working day, but offered nothing apart from a weak apology.

I will never order from The Range again, and I have yet to find a similar table and chairs within that price range, so will have to shell out at least 50% more elsewhere. They offered a replacement but I said if I couldn't have it within a week then I don't want it. They couldn't honour that, unsurprisingly.

My order actually arrived before date given. Had a phone call telling us the item was in the store & ready for collection. Went down the following day to collect it. It was worth the wait because it's a lovely item of furniture & the quality is excellent. Was disappointed originally over having to wait but seems to be the same everywhere these days. I wanted something that was ready assembled & not flat pack and the item from The Range was ideal.

I would have preferred to pick up the table and chairs myself but wasn't given the option, how frustrating! It would have looked perfect too :(

We ordered in store because this item didn't appear on their website. We saw a table and chairs we really liked but again it meant a long wait and we couldn't wait that long. Another couple were trying to buy another item of furniture and that wasn't in stock either, so that was 2 sales they lost within the space of 5 minutes. Nice items but not very good stock control.
