cancelled Card

Hi,
I cancelled my credit card around 6 months ago, having paid off what i owed. I got a bill from them today for £36.99 for card protection ( paid for by my credit card company without my consent). the credit card company told me I am liable for it and the Credit card protection company told me they would not refund the money as I had agreed to pay it in 2008. Both are NATWEST.

Any advice as i do not see why i should pay for a card that was cancelled or card protection that was nt ordered or needed?

Did you specifically cancel the card protection ?

Both are NATWEST group, but differing companies within the group and it's made clear on their agreements. If they have proof that you agreed to it in 2008, then you owe it unless of course it was mis-sold.

I agree with the bank on this one - cancelling the card does not cancel the card protection.
You would have needed to cancel this separately.
