Hiya my sister has a compac c700 and in order for it to even start she has to charge it. Once it's charged 10 mins later it just switches off..even though there's loads of battery left eg 95%.
When she then tries to switch it back on it doesn't turn on..
What could be the problem

Overheating?0

How hot does it feel before it dies? I had a laptop that would switch itself off as the fan wasn't working and it got to 100 degrees and turned itself off to survive for a bit longer. I needed some of the thermal paste and an update of the BIOS to fix it. Neither of which I did but some clever man did and it worked a treat.I'm sure I went upstairs for some reason.0

I'll check with my sister when she gets back from school and recharge it and feel it then
would it be hard to fix
Thanks for responding0 -
Does it still turn off after a few mins if the laptop is still connected to the mains? It could be that the battery is knackered.

I thought mine was overheating as you could feel the heat at the bottom of the laptop. People on this forum indicated the solution and they were right. I phoned a local guy who said the same and I got it fixed for £65 which I was happy with as I thought it was a gonner. I ended up installing ubuntu before that which has a temperature gauge and you could see it increase to 100 degrees and then it would switch itself off. I even bought one of those cooling pads for it to sit on which helped but nothing was going to stop the temperature hitting the ton without the past and the fans being on. Just try and find a local IT expert that has good reviews if you're not hardware savvy. If you're anywhere near the midlands I have a man round the corner who fixed mine.I'm sure I went upstairs for some reason.0
