New kichen, who does each thing?

Hi,
We would like to get a new kitchen in the near future, but we need everthing changed (Furniture, flooring (tiles), and walls (tiles)).
I like Ikea's kitchens, but I wonder who does the floor and walls? Would i need to hire a separate builder/handyman for this?
Would a place like Magnet take care of everything? Even if it's more expensive maybe it's worth it as I wouldn't have to coordinate 2 different works? It's always a pain not being able to use the kitchen for a long time...
Any similar experiences?

We employed a local builder, well he is semi retired now and he did the lot, the things he couldn't do he got some other semi retired professional in.
He is worth his weight in gold
Basically, decide what you want and then get a few people in (best if through personal recommendation) to give you quotes0 -
Thanks, I also think personal recommendations are the best, sadly we are new in the area and know no one!
I just think it's complicated to coordinate 2 separate jobs, specially on a kitchen that you need as quick as possible. For example the position of the tiles depends on the size/position of the furniture? Or can the tiling be done afterwards? (sorry, I've no idea how this works!)0 -
Most of the major DIY stores will do an all in job for you including fitting the kitchen, tiling, electrics, plumbing etc. If simple and straightforward is what you want then this is the way forward.
I would also suggest that most builders will also supply the same service but possibly cheaper than the major stores. Most of them will have an account at Howdens and can bring people in to do the necessary work. Just agree an all in price with them (make sure its a firm price not an estimate) and set them on their way.
When i did mine i used a builder for the kitchen units from howdens but supplied all the electricals and tiles etc myself which helped to keep the price down.Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly, and for the same reason.0 -
Thanks, there's a Howdens in my town so I might get a quote from them. I'm not planning to change the layout of the kitchen so in theory no major plumbing/electricity works are needed.. my guess is the floor is the biggest (the exiting tiles were put on top of the old ones, and we want to remove them all and possibly underfloor heating..)0

You can look on checkatrade.com or your yellow pages and search for kitchen fitters, they can install the whole job for you, though if you need electrics/plumbers they may subcontract and will charge a premium for it.0
