Hi all,

Just wondering if any of you bought the Groupon offer a couple of weeks back for carpet cleaning from Extreme Cleaning Services in Bangor? If so, have any of you been able to get through to a real live human being to make an appointment? I've tried all their numbers, and can only get voicemail...

Hi I got through on the mobile number given, spoke to a pleasant chap and appointment made for middle of July when he is doing other work in the Ballyclare area.I have no idea what to expect and would very much appreciate any feedback

Finally got through last night as well, and the appointment was made for the end of June. Hopefully he'll do a good job.

Had the booking made no mention of changes at that time with extreme cleaning just cannot understand it.

I didn't buy one but I consiered it and I didn't notice any mention of surcharges for travel costs

Needless to say, they didn't turn up on Saturday. I sent them a cheeky text, since it was impossible to get through to any of their 4 phone numbers. Eventually the guy called back (at 6p.m.) to say his machine had broken down and he had had to go to Lurgan to get it fixed. But of course he had left his phone in Bangor, which meant he had been unable to contact me to let me know he wouldn't be there.

I've rearranged the appointment, but to be honest, they sound like a bunch of cowboys. What sort of tradesman leaves his phone at home and then doesn't have the gumption to call his customers from a payphone or landline?

I have tried these guys 4 numbers, left messages and emailed them - still no reply!!!
Anyone else experiencing same problem???
I'm very close to asking for a refund.
Has anyone actually had them around to complete the job - and if so would you recommend them?

It's virtually impossible to get in contact with them during the day - I would advise you to try it in the evening.

OK, so here's what happened today. He texted me this morning to tell me the appointment would be at 1:15 this afternoon. I went out this morning, came back, and I had a text at 11a.m. to ask if I was free then, as his next appointment following ours was in Bangor and he didnt want to drive to there and back to Lisburn, otherwise he would have to reschedule for tomorrow.

Now, since it was after noon when I saw his text, I replied saying that he would have to come today at the time he had scheduled. He replied to say that wouldn't be possible. Given that I had taken time off work today to wait for him, and that this would now be the second appointment he had missed, I contacted Groupon for a refund.

I texted him to let him know his service is a joke, and he replied "I'm not gonna take crap for a measly £14" - it was £35 mate - "I contacted you at 11:09, you didn't get back to me until 2 hours later". Well, you made an appointment and didn't stick to it mate - not my fault if you can't organise your appointments correctly.

In summary, this business is a complete joke, and I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole after this. For anyone who has the Groupon offer with them, I would advise you to cancel - they've obviously signed up for it and can't handle the workload.

Groupon take over 50%. Something to bear in mind with Groupon offers - expect growing numbers of complaints like this. I know one company in England who did an offer and didnt limit the response. What they did get was almost a years worth of work at below cost - financial suicide. Needless to say they didnt honour any of it.
Also look at the businesses making the offers, theres usually a reason...

I have heard from a few people that the purchaser pays the Groupon price (ie £35 in this case) then groupon keeps 50% of it and the rest goes to the service provider.
