Help? Where can I buy my first walking stick?

At last, being very stubborn, I have realised a walking stick makes sense but where can I get one?
Whilst I have walking problems it is with both legs and I have a very short distance that I can walk without significant discomfort. My doctor say not to use a stick for the walking as such as it may cause more problems with gait and back ache/s. But he said I would benefit from having one for my balance/dizziness problems.
So I have been experimenting with my wife's walking pole at walking stick height as well as higher. The conclusion is a walking stick, colour black (being an Alpha Male (well once I was
)) or plain very dark colour and one that is adjustable in the same way the walking poles are. Folding sticks seem to be flimsier except some Switch ones we saw this morning but at £35 they seem very dear.
Looked on yell.com in my area (South Devon) without luck and wondered if I should buy one online - so any help would be good.

I bought mine on Ebay for about £7. It's a folding one. It is purple with flowers on it though
but I've seen some plain coloured ones. Even though it was quite cheap, it's very sturdy and it's adjustable.

I bought a switch stick, and although expensive, they are very strong, and easily folded and silent(don't click like most do). They have a website https://www.switchsticks.com and sticks start at £20 incl deliveryDFW'ers photography comp member no. 60

I wouldnt just buy a stick, you can cause yourself damage by using the wrong one or using one wrongly.
I would see your GP and get a referal to an OT/physio (a crutch may be better) to get advice on what is best for you and how to use a stick properly since most people use the wrong hand (it should be the opposite hand to the worse leg) and its just not worth causing yourself any more problems0 -

As per my OP my GP doesn't want me to use for legs as such but as a stabliser when I walk as I have balance problems. So not really a question of causing damage.
Mind you I may hit people with it. I am increasingly realising now that I am far less steady on my feet of the number of people who don't care and still try and get by you, bump into you, and so on.

Never thought of Argos and thanks.
Even though last week I bought a shower seat from Wilkinsons who have a few disability aids. Not good sticks though.0
