Argos Repair

Hello,
Does anyone know where I stand in respects to disputing repair costs with Argos? I bought a laptop last month, and after experiencing a problem with the screen within its 30 days notice took it back to the shop. They advised me this was caused by myself (which I can assure was not the case) and would cost almost half the price of the laptop to repair.
So as to not be stuck with a brand new laptop that is broken I have sent this for repair with them but have yet to agree to the charges.
Any thoughts on whats best for me to do?
Thanks
Katy

What Is the problem with the laptop screen?0

Apparently the screen has "bled" which they are saying can only be caused by dropping or standing on the laptop etc. - none of which I have done.0

The Liquid crystal in the screen can bleed by fault of the manufacturer or by fault of the user, would it be possible for you to put up a picture of the screen?
I deal with LCD screens all day and am pretty sure I can tell if damage is caused by misuse or defect just by a picture of the screen (the screen must be switched on)
Panels can leak because of pressure to the LCD or the panel its self can be defective and lead to liquid crystal leakage.

Usually you can tell if its user damage or manufacturing.
Shashwoo is right, if you could put up a picture.0 -
I unfortunately don't have the laptop now as it's gone for repair with them - I'm waiting for a phonecall to confirm their verdict.
I've tried to find a similar laptop to it on Google Images - but the site won't let me post links as Im a new user & they think it may be spam

It would be no good posting a picture from Google it would have to be a picture of your laptop switched on

Just becareful they don't try and charge you for something that is indeed LC leakage and down to the manufacturer and not you.

Any rough description of the leak? Did it appear to start at the side of the screen, in the middle? Has it been getting worse or just suddenly appeared.0

It was actually my partner that first encountered the problem - it starts from about 1/4 of the way down from the top of the screen - seems to have a black jagged cut in the screen then the rest of the one half of the screen is the supposed bleed - hope that helps?0
