Hi all,
Im wanting to create a website providing information, will have around 6 pages, and not for a buisness or anything, but do not have any knowledge of how to create a site so am wondering if anyone can recommend any sites where you can create a site for free?

Weebly.com is where mine is at, brilliant site, all drag and drop capabilities, got some great pre made layouts on there and you can also adjust the coding should you wish to!0

Try Wordpress.com, they host the website and have millions of templates.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0

yes, you can use your own domain with a wordpress site. it costs around £2-£3 a year to register a co.uk domain. the email for the domain can be managed by gmail for free. in fact if you don't want wordpress then Google Sites (or whatever they call themselves now) do hosting for free.0

For a basic, non-commercial website, it's probably easiest to just write the HTML yourself - and if you ever need something more complicated, understanding how basic HTML works might be useful.
There are some great tutorials at w3schools.com.0 -

In what world is teaching yourself HTML easier than using a CMS??Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0 -

In most people's, I would have thought. How hard is it to remember how to use a "p" tag, for example? It's not like there are hundreds to remember, and if you have the reference at w3schools.com open in one page, you can create a basic site in a few minutes - much easier than fiddling around with various CMSes to see which one suits.
It's not rocket science, y'know!0 -
I enjoy the features on moonfruit.com
(Can't insert URL, still a newbie :P )
It's a really simple site and if you like your site so much you can buy a domain name for it and call it your own!0 -
Find your self a free host that allows PHP and install getsimple, very easy to learn and use - gives you all the cms goodness.
I use 000webhosts again very easy to setup. (I wouldent use these for a business website) Yes you can use your own domain name with these.
I used to use 110mb.com but they are very restrictive and don't even support php for free. Very Poor0
