What legislation is the seller in breach of? AFAIK only tenanted properties have to have gas safety checks. Owner occupiers are not governed by any legislation and if they want to live with a faulty / dangerous gas system, it is up to them. Houses are purchased on a principle of caveat emptor (buyer beware). Seller doesn't have to do anything.
I think Timmy is referring to the requirement for a new boiler installation to have Buildings Regs certification.

    Ignore the above OP.

Every conveyancer knows about Corgi and now GasSafe - always some new complaince that needs to be checked - and the Seller should have secured Corgi or building control.

OP - No 12 months enforcement limitation on the Council when there is a 'danger to health and saftey' and if you put in a new boiler in 2007 without Corgi or building control, then I am on notice it could very well be just that...you could have a time bomb on your hands. Get it checked, and I would argue by the seller, failing that you - just to get it sorted

and this applies to all gas servicing since 2005 too.

timmyt, my question to your response was just that, I didn't know what legislation you were talking about and wanted to know - hence the question and the "AFAIK". I wasn't trying to be sarcastic or clever, was just genuinely interested in the answer as the last time I had a new system installed was 2000.
