Is Monarch Premium any good?

Booked to fly to Florida with Monarch and paid the extra for premium.

Obviously I have read Monarchs blurb but wondered if anyone had used Monarch Premium on long haul and what their experiences were?

Does the dedicated check in etc speed things significantly at Gatwick?

Is the food any good or should we take backup nibbles?

What is with the seat back monitors? Is it films/programs on demand or a play list and you jump in and out as you want?

Thanks in advance

Nick

Never flown to Florida with Monarch but have flown to Goa, India with them twice. Once I upgraded and IMHO, it wasn't worth it! Maybe the price was the problem as had it been cheaper I may have thought differently. I paid £300 per person for the return flights.

The food was marginally better, as in I had a better choice. The back seat screens were better than the above seat TV's but as I didn't really use them, they were wasted on me. I did hear that some of the channels didn't work. The real benefit was the slightly bigger seat and slightly more room to stretch out in.

We were given priority check-in at Manchester and in Goa on our return and for both legs of the journey, a bigger luggage allowance.

I have also upgraded with Thomas Cook/First Choice and that was much better than Monarch.

Good luck and I hope it's better than my experience.

It may be worth having a look on Trip Advisor Goa Forum and do a search for Monarch Premium as this is discussed quite a lot and they will be exactly the same planes.

We have also flown with Monarch Premium to Goa. In my opinion its just not worth all the extra money... £299 extra each! We have also used the extra legroom seats... that was also to Goa. It was only about £60 extra each and that was worth it for the extra legroom.

Thanks all. I had seen the link above previously but it was more airline focussed so wanted to ask the direct questions.

I will see how it goes and report back

we flew with Monarch last yr and paid the extra to go premium. flew from manchester to stansted orlando. On the way out to orlando the premium service was good. Got back seat tv's and the food was good also. Even thou they had ran out of the chicken (how when we were suppose to get first priority on the food) unlimited nibbles and alcoholic drinks within reason.:)
The way back was terrible for premium. never got boarded first. never got offered no drinks nothing. When we arrived back in manchester we were not off the plane first. and we never got our luggage first. Terrible. I wouldnt fly again with Monarch thats why this yr i have paid just that little bit more and gone with Virgin. Hope i have helped
