Advice for finding temporary cash in hand jobs

I've just returned from travelling for a year and am completely broke. I am applying for jobs in my usual field which is very specialised but I won't hear back from these for a few weeks to a month.

I desperately need some cash as I'm getting into debt but don't know where to start with finding short term cash in hand jobs. I've looked in local shop windows and tried some recruitment agencies but they seem reluctant to give me temp work as my background is so specialised.

I'd be willing to do anything, like pamphlet delivery, data entry etc Where can I find these sort of jobs? I am living in Leeds at the moment.

I already do online stuff like surveys but these are so slow at building up cash and have sold everything sellable on Ebay.

How about some bar work or waiting? Go into the bars/restaurants and ask.

Don't be too sure about that - you'd be amazed what you can sell on ebay : check this thread out - should give you a chuckle even there's nothing suggested on there that you've got to sell :-)

Seriously I'd second savemoneys gardening suggestion - my wife and I have managed to do a couple of garden tidy-ups for a few quid when times were tight just by being cheeky and knocking on doors of houses with untidy gardens:D

Thanks for the responses! I will definately look into some of the suggestions.

I litterally have nothing left to sell as all I've got is the stuff I was travelling with for the last year, most of which is worn out. I'm even trying to sell some cameras that broke while we were travelling. The few other things I have are still in storage and I sold what I could before leaving to finance the trip.
  • How about getting in touch with local builders, painter & decorators, carpenters etc - offer to do some manual labour for cash. Most need labourers, esp. in the summer months.
  • Post an ad on craigslist?

Look on gumtree. There are often those types of job on there http://www.gumtree.com/jobs/leeds. I've just had a peek and there are a few flyering jobs, a summer bar job etc advertised in the last 24 hours. Good luck!

I started looking at these a couple of days ago. A lot of listings are for the illegal work of captcha entry. The sites specifically say that this isn't allowed, so the spammers have started posting fake ads, then revealing the true work when you apply. Beware!
