We've waited 2 months so far to transfer from HSBC to Halifax & at last we just got a list of direct debits and standing orders. How long did it take you to transfer and when did you get the £100 bonus?
  • It won't happen instantly - they will contact HSBC for a list of your DD's -(they are relying on HSBC to supply these at HSBC's timescales) then Halifax will confirm these with you. It will take a few weeks - which is why Halifax put an interest free overdraft of approx £2000 for 120 days to allow for the transfer

catz - what £100 bonus are you talking about? never heard it and work there - but could be a regional promotion

the transfer is not dealt with by the branch. It is dealt with the (AATS) Automated Accounts Transfer Team based in Glasgow, who contact creditors , banks and direct debit companies on your behalf after you have signed to give permission

Don't know where my reply disappeared to but here it is again:

I got my £100 transfer bonus (think it was a national incentive for transfers between a certain date in october and november) there was a leaflet and I'm sure there was a TV ad too.

Anyway, our salaries have apparently been changed and we are just waiting for the rest of the direct debits to change. Shouldn't be long because they said salaries are the last thing they change - Yipppeee :)

I always get through to telephone banking instantly too. I always wondered if it had something to do with the fact they ask you to enter your sort code and account number.... whether they then prioritise calls based on how many products/money you have with them... and thus how "important" you might be as a customer? The reason i say this, is i'm amazed they can provide such a good telephone service with no queuing... Anyone know if this might be the case?
