I'm selling a magazine on eBay, and the highest bidder is...also selling the same magazine. Both are auction format, both likely to go for the same price (as both are in the same condition - although she started hers at £10 and me at 99p) looking at previous auctions. How mysterious.

It sounds like she is hoping to be the only bidder on your magazine so that she will be able to get it for 99p (and may then try to resell at a higher price).

Yes, that makes sense, but bids are already up to the cost price and based on completed auctions it'll sell for £20-25. It would be enormously unlikely that this would happen.

I have listed video games before and had people who were clearly dealers asking for a very low BIN price in the hope of selling it on (then arguing with me when I said 'no, I clicked on your username, you're obviously a dealer, that's really too low') but I can't see how she'd make a profit.

I'd be concerned that they were after bumping up the price of yours to an unreasonable level so more people bid on theirs...

Edited to add that I would suspect that they would not pay you for yours.

Maybe I'm just cynical though!

I offered a sale outside ebay to avoid listing costs and fees, it went ahead i invoiced her £11 FOR 1 ITEM ONLY and today i got a email saying "only 1 arrived this am" how weird of her, so i sent a message back saying "i only invoiced you for £11 - that is for 1 post free"

Dunno how many she expected for £11 since they sell for £14 approx on ebay, some people don't read messages and never get it right.
