Best Before Project Free Food Project
Our project has the ultimate goal of reducing food waste. We want to achieve this through mass re-distribution of products with Best Before dates, passed to those in need and others who will be able to put them to good use.
This issue has received a bit of media attention in the past but we believe there needs to be a massive media campaign to inform and educate the public towards a better understanding of what ?best before? means.
Unfortunately 'best before' labelling is associated with ?use by?,which marks a certain amount of confusion amongst the general public.
We started from the most basic premise which is to collect food which would otherwise be sent to landfill, and distribute it to organisations working with those in need.
The products are taken from a range of high street supermarkets in different parts of London and also from several cash-and-carry places and stored in our warehouse.
On the recipients side, we have established relationship with four charities.
We are keen to work with more charities, organisations,
community groups etc.
Individuals are also free to collect food from our
warehouse in London
Volunteers staff the warehouse so appointments need to be made for individual collections.
If you are a interested in collecting some free food email Storm
and she will pass our details on to you.
Regards
Elisa
