Can't believe the cheek of Tern! Did 2 visits last week for them and submitted the results. A week later I log in and they've removed the jobs and deactivated my account. I've rang them and they claim they've been trying to contact me all week through email and text and they haven't. I've had the allocation email and the email telling me to set the date and that's it, just gone back and checked every email in my inbox from the past couple of weeks to make sure. And I've never had a text from them ever!

Send them an invoice (paper, through the post, Recorded Delivery as a minimum), mark it "cleared payment due within 14 days of invoice date" (as long as this fits with when you were expecting to be paid).

If they don't pay by the due date, sent a reminder marked "PAST DUE" (big, red, capital letters). Give them 7 days.

If they still don't pay, send them a FINAL DEMAND (even bigger, bold, red letters). Also explain that if payment is not received within 7 days, legal action will commence to recover the money, without further notification.

Post back if you need help suing them.

Agree with all of the above. Usually the words "small claims court" will be enough to get them to cough up.
  • What was with the random GAP email stating petrol assignments were in the area yesterday, yet none appeared and no update on here, surely they were not all bribed out?

One thing I have noticed although not been shopping for that long is the change in attitude ms companies now have.

There were always some companies treat their shoppers poorly (RE and GAP spring to mind) but I find lately that people are having significant issues with what people see as more 'reputable' companies. Bare, TNS and now Tern are springing to mind as companies that people have had issue's with.

I think that since the pool of mystery shoppers is getting so big these companies are starting to realize that if they lose one shopper it's not that big a deal as there are 'plenty more fish in the sea' so to speak. I would also add that the competition within the market has led to reduction in fee's/good quality communication and service from the MS companies which I find a shame.

Although everybody's personal experience of companies varies, I would assume that these problems were less seen 10/15 years ago when strong support and communication were the link between mystery shoppers and the companies they worked for, where now MS companies have a lot more choice and can basically afford to P*ss off one or two shoppers as it won't make a significant difference to them.
I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!

I'm enjoying working for some of the smaller companies to be honest. I have a couple that text me specifically offering jobs, and I spoke to the MD of one today on his mobile. Freaked me out as I really wasn't expecting him to answer the generic mobile number I was given haha.

I've never seen any phones on TNS. Does anyone know if there's a specific demographic on this? I see other phones, but not on TNS.
    Thanks!

I was allocated a Bare Test Centre recently, and went through the process to register and book a test online. When it came to the final page and I was asked to confirm my details, I realised that the ID number Bare had allocated me was for a man! Considering you have to take photo ID to the centre, that was a no go-er! :rotfl:

I emailed the Bare contact to explain, and they confirmed they had given me the wrong log-in details. I never heard anything else for a few days, and then started getting the "You have an assignment overdue and your shopper rating will be seriously affected" emails. I emailed back, pointing out that the error was not mine, but these emails continued until I flipped and sent a not particularly polite one back....

One company, who will remain nameless until they have paid me, annoyed me so much I basically told them if they quiered one more thing they could stick it!
I did one job for them, and I won't ever do another.
