There are 19 threads with hundreds of pages!!!
Most info is on the first couple of pages on this thread
Okay so I may have exaggerated slightly haha, I did search them and couldn't find any specifics on that subject and just wanted to see if anyone had had a similiar experience and the outcome. Thanks anyway!0 -
I know i'm boring you all now on this subject
but.....this Gap thing is still confusing me. After they emailed me yesterday to tell me I was dumped, I couldn't get into my account. Now I can get in again, and my shopper account shows as 'Active'
Is that normal?
No, not normal. Looks like you got "lucky". Now quickly capture your list of completed assignments, and then ensure your bank details are correct, just in case they've re-activated you in error.0 -
When you're self employed you are the business. You basically work as a contractor to the MS companies. In terms of the online tax return you just clump all the companies you work for together and report the profit and expenses to HMRC.
Employers are anyone else you may work for that pay you PAYE.
Thanks for your help0 -

Yep, I agree with this and also to be on the safe side I wouldn't accept any assignments for a while. Gap have been known to reinstate people who then get phoned up and bribed with petrol jobs to do burgers. They do the burger and then get fired again before they get the chance to do the petrol. Very dodgy so just tread carefully.0 -
Boredupnorth wrote: »IS anyone MSPA certified? Did you see an increase in work offered when you became certified?
I ask because I did mine 10 months ago. When I did it I did not notice any difference in work offered from the companies that accept the certificate. When I joined new companies after taking the certificate I still had to “prove” myself and wait my turn to get my first assignment etc.
I know the fee for doing it is not a lot but it only last 12 months then you need to pay it again and re take the test. I found the test to be a bit of a joke really. Like most of them it seemed to be just pure common sense. MOH also sat the test and did not even read the preamble, has never mystery shopped before and still managed to pass it. Does anyone think its worth having or is it a waste of money?
I've never done it as I heard it was mostly used in the US and not so much here. I'm sorry you found it hasn't helped, but I'm pleased you mentioned that as it helps those of us who have considered doing it decide if it's worth it! From your experience I won't be bothering, I seem to do well enough without it.Has anyone ever had the issue with GAP where they assign a job with a premium, do the job, check their page a week later and the premium has been taken off and it's back to it's normal fee?
Sorry to be an annoying 'newbie' - was searching the net for some help and came across this thread! Have searched the previous threads but can't find much on it.
You're only an annoying newbie if you ask a question without looking for it.....for now you're just a plain old newbie
I've not had that situation, but I think the main problem you'll have is proving the premium. Do you have a copy of the assignment notes where at the top it says -
Pay? - reimburse £x for meal and shopper fee £y = x+y plus £z agreed extra
If so then I'd send an email to ShopperPaymentUK@gapbuster.com pointing out that there is a discrepency. I've just checked one of mine from last month and on my job list it has the premium, so they don't normally take them off.0 -
ARGH! I hate doing phone shops. The one I did today, again, I fell in love.
Todays mantra: I DO NOT NEED TO SPEND £35+ per month on this item. I DO NOT NEED IT. I DO NOT. I DO NOT. Might work....
Anyone else doing these GfK shops today have this feeling too? It's sooooooo purrrrttttyyyy.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

This might not help but. YES YOU DO NEED IT lol
I had a basic mobile and as i got busier hated being away from my laptop only to return and find i missed millions of alerts. I paid £20 a month and didn't want to pay more, but i justified that if i get 2 jobs a month by having a fancy mobile that will make up the £40 i would be paying for it.
I have most certainly managed to get 2 jobs a month i wouldn't have done had i not had the fancy phone, so go for it. And write some of the cost off on your tax return.I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0 -
