I responded to an ad on Gumtree about mystery shopping. I've had a reply from someone offering a job which I'm slightly suspicious about so I thought I'd ask here.

The job is at a money transfer place. Being vague because I assume I'm not allowed to name it. I have to transfer some money and see how long the entire transaction takes, check out the customer service, etc.

Obviously sounds like a no-go but apparently they would send me the money that I would transfer by courior or similar.

The person is using a yahoo email rather than a company one which is also a bit dodgey.

Anyone know anything about this? Thanks :)

Hi can anyone help me ?

I did an urgent burger for gyp at lunch time today, but now when I try and enter the time, it says it's not valid  Has anyone any idea how I can get round this ?

    Thanks

Do you not read the papers??? This is old scam. They send you money- £1000 or something, You get the cheque, from Nigeria or similar, and pay it in, then you send them the balance less your fee. Unfortunately the cheque then bounces but because it is drawn on a foreign bank it takes ages to be returned.
So, don't touch it with a bargepole, or any other jobs you find on gumtree. There's a comprehensive list of reputable companies on the first couple of pages of this thread.

Is it the part where you need to put AM or PM (have been caught out by that before)

As it was an "urgent" job, it may have have been set up originally with a timeframe other than lunchtime, which may not have been changed. This would mean that your lunchtime times are not valid. This has happened to me in the past. I have emailed Gyp and submitted an enquiry giving full details of my problem, and stating my intentions (obviously, with no immediate response because it is Gyp). I have then submitted the report using whatever times the system would allow and giving appropriate explanation in the comments box at the end.

Thanks for the reply, knew something wasn't quite right about it. I am registered with the companies recommended here but I've done jobs for a few other places too and all has been ok so far but this seemed dodgy.

    Thanks for the advice, but....
there is no am/pm and I've tried every time from 01 to 23.

Has anyone got their phone number please ? (i've done a search and know it's out there, but can't find it)

    Thanks again :o

It does say on the info on the first page that calling them can be 'a sackable offence'

Sorry I don't have the number, but I have seen people quote it on here before.
