Any of the jars of spices etc are a good one to ask about..............
Spices are good! I tend to ask for oils/condiments, those types of things that are never in the same place! One of the shops I go in regularly has oil/vinegar at one end of the shop and ketchup/pickles etc at the other end.0 -

If this is the one for GR, I have never been rumbled with it. Some staff give good answers and some dont so i would guess they ahve not worked it out at this stage. Remember banks are busy places and they get asked that sort of thing all the time.0 -
Which one is the posh supermarket? I only ever see bum slapping ones0

Misssarahleigh - I'm interested in doing a bit of mystery shopping as I'm on maternity leave and like to keep active. I do investigative journalism which I suppose is similar.
For example if the shopper has to visit a bank and ask about a specific account, is he or she allowed to ask any other questions as a diversion tactic? I would probably use the line 'I'm on maternity leave but...'
I know establishments are alerted to a visit but are they given the details of what the shopper will ask?
Also I'm on SMP. It is ok to be self-employed? Isn't it??0 -

Something off home baking like glycerine, arrowroot, food colouring, yeast etc.
Something off one of the little side racks like shoe cleaning stuff or haberdashery.The_Write_Girl wrote: »

I would just follow the brief and ask other questions if it felt natural to do so. Like if you had to enquire about a current account, and they ask about savings account you might ask some extra savings questions.
Yes it's ok being self employed when you are claiming SMP.Here I go again on my own....0 -

Basically, don't overthink. You read the brief and do the job, people will do the talking for you. If you're lying, which you are then it's best to keep it simple.0 -

Yep, so am I but less is more. I do this on video now so I have to endure listening to myself waffle...0 -

You also generally don't lead the conversation (unless the brief asks you to prod them in a certain direction).
Also you'd have to be careful about your stories, your fictional job had you asking about a current account, with your comments about maternity leave you might well be in for the hard sell for child trust funds/baby ISA's , life insurance & a new credit card to buy all the 'baby bits' from some banks :-)0 -
This is a first from me, contacted by a shop after they received the MS report I did. :rotfl:
Just had a delightful phone call from the owner of a shop I visited few weeks ago, thanking me for my MS report which they'd just received. The nature of the shop and the circumstances of this particular location I visited meant it wouldn't have been hard to realise it was me once he'd seen the report. Thankfully he said he had no idea I was a MS at the time. I had to leave a real contact number so he looked through his records and decided to ring me. I'm just pleased he received a glowing report (well deserved) and not one slagging him off lol!
It's not my usual location and I would never be able to shop it again anyway but it did take me aback a bit at first but bless him he was genuinely keen to make whatever improvements he could and was pleased for the feedback!0
