If you are also wanting cream, with the Sainburys strawberries you also get a 60p carton of cream for free. I have bought 2 today.

Another vote for pick your own - got a tonne for a fraction of the price of supermarkets at the weekend (and they're nice). Now, if I could only find my microwave jam recipe... :o

thanks everyone, pyo is a good idea but the nearest one is at least 45 mins drive and (as ever) we have few volunteers doing a lot of jobs! Local fruit shop doing huge punnets for £1.20 or 2 for £2, bought 2 to sample (!) & they are gorgeous, hopefully they;ll be the same price on Friday! For further info the good old co-op had punnets for £2 for 400g but 3 for £5 whihc was quite good.

I noticed in ASDA last night that they do smartprice strawberries. They are £1.50 for 454g. They are funny shapes - mixture of large and small.

I would try local green grocers / market. Last week I got 2 x big punnets for £1.50 & they were lovely.

If you buy Silver Spoon preserving sugar with added pectin, there is a recipe for microwave strawberry jam.

I would look it out for you, but it went in the recycling bag for the bin men today.

I went Strawberry picking yesterday with DS2 (4)...we had a great time. .....20 mins 2 kg of delicious strawberries :D
