PPI Claiming Help!

Hi
I've been trawling through all the threads and feel more confused! I have had several loans with Halifax over the years, some have been repaid and more recent were stll paying which have been taken out to cancel others etc. Do i need to send separate letters for each loan? Not sure if PPI has been paid on some or not? Would i have to find this out first? If so how?

Also we have critical illness/sickness cover with our mortgage with halifax. Is this another PPI claim?
Do this not affect our mortgage account making these complaints/enquiries?
Thanks

The first stage is to look at your loan agreements (if you still have them) to see whether you actually have PPI. If you don't have the agreements, ask your lender for copies.

The next stage is to consider whether you were mis-sold the PPI and why you feel that. Just having PPI isn't grounds for a complaint. If you feel you shouldn't have had it, then you will need to explain why.

As a starting point, have a read through the guide:

Depends what you are trying to do. If you just want to know what information they hold on you then a single Data Subject Access request (normally costing £10) is probably easiest.

Complaints about particular accounts or policies are best as separate letters each quoting the relevant account/policy number.

Either by trawling through what they hold or by contacting them and asking. Bear in mind that they may not have data from a long time ago any longer and if so it will not be possible to prove.

    No

No - although if you pursued it in a manner that was fraudulent it could cause difficulties in getting another one.

You also need to explain why it is the fault of Halifax. Simply not bothering to read documentation that was clear, fair and not misleading may be a mispurchase but it is not a missale.

I know that lots on here wrote "one" letter for loans with PPI that were taken out from the same bank (that is if you had PPI on all the loans of course) and stated each one with dates etc. in the single letter.

If they are consolidated (each loan was to pay off the other) and PPI was added as a single premium then some of the the PPI is then carried on into the next loan (that is how it works). You really need to check if you had it on all loans first.

You seem to have completely the wrong end of the stick over the issues.

Having insurance is not bad. its not a mis-sale. It relates to whether you need it and how it was sold and set up.

Certain types of PPI have a near 90% plus uphold rate at the ombudsman. Some are far far lower. Critical illness has hardly any complaints at the ombudsman. Plus, it would have required an advice process and not a sales process. So, the audit trail should be pretty good.

The requirement with any complaint you make is why you think you were mis-sold. So, why do you think you were mis-sold these products?
