Hi all,
Would anybody know why (i have a wireless linsksys modem router WUSB54GS , most of the time when i turn on my pc, i have to do a secure setup ? it always gives me a msg that there is an access point but i cannot connect to the internet. i thought that the connection should be done automatically.
is this a problem with the router or ISP ? or am i missing something in any of my settings ?
thanks in advance.

my computer connects automaticaly to my netgear router.
have you entered your isp details into the router, you should be able to access the router by clicking here0 -
Have you tried connecting to the web without going through the setup? I get the same message if I click the Linksys icon in the taskbar (bottom right) even when I'm on the internet (just tried it between typing).0

I had the adapter with the router and used the press button set up - it created a network that sets up automatically every time now so no need to do set up anymore0

hi albertross,
i was trying your instruction from your previous link, but i cannot see these after i click on 'changed advance settings'.
wireless networks, highlight your ssid, properties, connection. Make sure "connect when this network is in range" is ticked. Click OK, advanced, make sure Access point (Infrastrucure) networks only is selected, and automatically connect to non-preferred networks is unticked
My connection is a hit and miss. my internet connection goes down every few minutes. i tried using the netstumbler, but i do not see any other connection.
and also, i cannot go into 192.168.0.1 as per gaming_guy's advice.
please help ! these router and adapter have been with me for a couple of months now and i am still not able to use it properly. how would i know if it is the product which is defective ?0 -

Do you know if windows is managing your wireless, or is there some other software that came with the adapter?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
I sorted my conx out the other day that had the same problem, somewhere in the settings for the wireless card will be an option to set to "Auto" so that it connects automatically, mine was set to "Open". Look in "Profiles" and "Authentication"ITV Winners Club #87 :eek:0
