Don't buy one from ebay if you're not looking to get one before Christmas. They only cost £185 in real life. Nintendo re-stock quickly and there'll be a second wave of stock coming along soon.
You can go into a local game shop and get you name on a list so they phone you when they've got some, do the same in Curry's and Comet and Woolies too - or just keep ringing them.0 -
There are many people around the world in DESPERATE NEED of food, water, shelter, vaccines and basic medicines. To say that your desperate for a games console is a bit much. I'm sure you will get one by xmas if you look hard enough, but at this special time of year please also spare a thought got people who really are desperate for things.Just trying to be me.....0

I know what you mean, it's nice to get your kids something they want for Christmas. I just sold the one I pre-ordered as my son has decided he wants a nano.
If you are willing to pay the money you can get them for about £300 on ebay.
If it was me I would sit my son down in advance of Christmas and tell him that there is a major shortage and that rather than pay the inflated prices you will give him an iou for as soon as the shops get them back in.
Good luckMoney SPENDING Expert0 -

MANY THANKS in advance!
Read all the other threads, gather your info, take a store of choice and then camp outside.0 -
It's bewildering when you don't know and it's no help to overhear the rubbish that quite a few of the assistants in the games shops tell parents and grandparents when they are obviously struggling.
If you want to know anything else as you go along, ask awayI've been gaming all my life and am a 41 year old woman, have all the consoles and am really happy to help.
Actually - you're going to love the Wii too if your chap gets one.0 -
They were sold out in ToysRus but they said they will have more in in January.0

Good luck
depending on the age of your DS, why not put the cash for one in a card, and either:
a: explain that DS is old enough to buy own and you wanted to give them the resposibility of getting it themselves
b: enclose an IOU from Santa explaining he couldn't fit them all in the sleigh so has left the cash for DS to go and buy own
c: make something else up
may seem harsh, but being a money saver i couldn't justify spending £100+ more than rrp to have it for the day, would rather wait a week.roll on december 26th : i want my house back!!!!
got it back, just the bloody tree to go now!!!!!0
