Will I get purchase protection if I buy a wardrobe from Ikea on a visa credit card?

Thanks

if the wardrobe breaks apart after purchase due to poor quality and Ikea are unwilling to rectify the situation will Visa stop the transaction with a chargeback?

Ikea tend to sell average to decent quality stuff so I don't think it'd be an issue unless you are cack handed with tools when you shove it together.

If there was an obvious manufacturing fault, Ikea themselves would replace the item.

If its over 100 you'd have section 75 apply in the event of an unresolvable conflict with IKEA. Below 100 you can ask for a VISA chargeback if you have justification but it isn't the same as section 75. I try to use a CC for purchases of items over 100 in part for that reason.

Ikea products are in general mass produced and low quality. So don't expect them to last a long time. If you want something to last then either reinforce an ikea product, or buy elswhere.

I think that if you had owned an ikea wardrobe for lets say 2 years, and it fell apart, then I would expect that the credit card company may take the view that for the low prices paid, then it wouldn't be expected to last much longer.

Visa Chargeback and Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act (if the furniture cost £100 or more) will afford you some protection.
