bt line rental refund?

i hope someone here can advise me what happens to any credit in you bt phone rental acct when you cancel the line? i have about £30 in credit.

how long does it take to get any refund and is it paid by cheque?

I recently found myself massively in credit with BT.

I asked for a refund and because I pay by direct debit, the refund was paid directly into my bank account within a week.

You can request a refund at any time by contacting billing or the customer options team, so you could theoretically order the refund one day and cancel your line the next.

They were very good about my refund, and acted promptly to action it, so even if they say that they would need to send it to you by cheque (with the line and subsequent DD cancellation), I wouldn't think that it would take longer than a week or two, post office allowing.

One thing that you might not be aware of though is that when you cease a line with BT and have been on a monthly payment plan, they will also cease the direct debit at that time and then produce a final bill for you. The DD cancellation may well apply to whole bill direct debits too.
