But ask yourself if they are still weatherproof and still work. If so, find a good local carpenter after you've moved in and get him to do a little remedial work.0 -
I am getting Ventrolla to come and do a free survey... I think some of mine are too far gone to save but want to try snd save what i can. My builder (friend) has a joiner friend who quotes £600 per window to make new ones to match. So i'll have a mixture. Also leaving the side windows as we're extending next year, and so pointless paying for them to be done. We'll jist rub them down and fill them ourselves and paint.
Good luck!

If you have been quoted £600-00 for a complete, glazed, weighted complete boxframe window then its either the deal of a lifetime or a pile of rubbish.
Just my opinion but Ventrolla charge a huge premium for a basic job that any decent carpenter can do and their 2 pack filler repair system is rubbish so ask around for recommendations for a good Carpenter who has experience of Boxframe sash windows.0 -

Ventrolla do know how to charge!
Quality PVC sash windows are £600/800 each, but mid range are cheaper at £450, however there are some companies offering any size £200 + Vat but you get what you pay for.
As you say £600 to buy a timber box sash.....nearer £1000 each.Buying quality goods which last, should be an investment that saves money. :T
Buying cheap products which fail, wastes money and costs twice as much in the long run. :mad:0 -
