Problems with Nationwide account switching service

Options
I decided to change to Nationwide after 30 years with RBS (Williams & Glyns at the time of opening) and used their account switching service.

I was warned that my direct debits could come out of either account for the first month, which I was prepared for by using the overdrafts that I already had available. What I wasn't prepared for was for 3 of my direct debits to be cancelled from RBS but not set up with Nationwide. Luckily the 3 bills were Axa home insurance, 1899 (phone company) and NATIONWIDE Credit card!
No charges applied with AXA and 1899 but missed payment & late fees on Nationwide CC. I've spoken to the customer services assistant at Nationwide who did all the account switching paperwork and she has put in a complaint for me.

I'm hoping that my charges will be refunded (she said they will be) and my credit history isn't affected. I guess I just wanted to pre-warn others using the service that it sometimes isn't as straight forward as they make it out to be.

I also want to open a flexi account with NW.
I went to one of their branches today. I was told that it is not mandatory to have DDs some SOs will be sufficient as long as we are using their Switching Service to switch our bank account.

We will get insurance as long as we pay £760 monthly to the flexi a/c
