Partners Ex Giving Her House But Staying On Mortgage?

Why does he want to stay on the mortgage? Either that letter wouldn't be worth the paper it's written on, or he thinks he'll get back with her. I just don't get what's in it for him. He more than likely won't get another mortgage while he owns that property. All very odd. If it was me, I'd be cutting ties completely. Way too strange - and I don't know how you feel about it, but if that was my hubby, BF or whatever, I'd feel very 'uncomfortable' about it all.

I echo the sentiment that this is pretty messy and has a good chance of leading to further problems. You seem very set on it, that's up to you, but as pointed out above you are dealing with probably the most important financial transaction of your life and you are happy with him 'writing a letter to his solicitor'. *slaps palm on head*
at least go and consult a proper lawyer.0 -

You would have to be insane to pay him and still let him keep his name on the mortgage.0
