We move in to our first house on Friday.

Can I call uswitch and get things started in terms of switching suppliers before I complete on Friday or do I need to wait until then?

You can't switch supplier unless you have a supplier.

On the day you move in (or otherwise become legally responsible) then call the existing suppliers and register accounts, giving the meter readings. Then you can start to switch if you wish to ... but I'm sure you will have a million of other things to be getting on with first.
