Buyer not recieved item?

Hi, I posted an item out over a week ago and it hasn't been recieved, buyer has made an Ebay claim. I can't provide a tracking number but did keep a proof of postage...the only thing is it only has the post code on it, I thought it needed house number too (I work in a post office and always put house number and post code). Does anyone know whats likely to happen when this occurs? Don't really have a lot of faith in getting my cash back from Royal mail. :eek:
