Thanks Snowman for posting this thread on the forum, as you mentioned it was in the MSE best buys but to be honest I probably would not have seen it there in time.
I know if you post something thats already on the site you risk getting moaned at by the resident moaners as Ive experienced myself in the past trying to bring deals to people attention before they get withdrawn, but the way I look at it if your post has helped even one person then its been worth it.

Over the weekend I posted my application to Secure Trust Bank to open one of their 3 year fixed term bonds which was paying 4.30 gross, but after seeing your post yesterday I changed my mind just in time, as I was able to call Secure Trust Bank today and cancel my application with them, the lady I spoke to shredded my cheque while I was on the phone to them (saved me paying my bank a cheque cancellation fee). I told her a better deal had come up since I sent my application in to them, she did agree the terms of the Newcastle deal were good and she said she would relay the info to their savings team.

Newcastle 4.20 against STB 4.30, so to lose 0.10% for the 180 days penalty free withdrawal option is def worth it! Cheers.

I managed to get my application in about 15 mins before it was withdrawn.

I filled out a direct debit form, but did not see any options for selecting a DD date and have received no confirmation that my initial deposit will be taken by DD (I guess I missed an option somewhere!). I'm hoping they will allow me to submit my deposit even though it's now withdrawn.

Thanks Snowman for posting this thread on the forum,

    Thanks.

I remember a while back getting in on the Northern Rock 4.3% version of this account purely down to this post of marionandpaul (a true MSE 'one post wonder').

So it is good to be able to help in return.

Yes, I didn't get the chance to pay by dd either. Hopefully they'll give us a week or so to deposit the funds.

You should be OK. Last time I think they gave people 20 days to fund the account once closed see this thread

I also completed an application after 3.20pm (around 3.45pm) and received an e-mail saying "Thank You. Your online application is now complete .....". One page kept saying an error has occured try again, but changing the interest payment option from nominated bank account to Newcastle account allowed me to continue.

Clicking on the link (http://www.newcastle.co.uk/savings/PremierBondIssue2) in a new web browser after 3.20pm gave the message "External component has thrown an exception." and continues to do so for me now at 4.30pm.

I suppose until they take the funds by direct debit on the 24th they could write/e-mail and decline the application .......

When 6.1m people get Martin's weekly Email they never last long! They're often gone by lunchtime. The emails get sent out during the course of the whole day and I missed the last offer because I didnt receive the email till late on the Wednesday evening.

I got this weeks last night at 10.30pm and had applied by 11pm
