Good advice above. This definitely won't affect your credit rating. Just check with your local council to make sure the other person hasn't tried to put their name on the electoral roll at your address. This is unlikely though, it's probably just a mistake.

You may be able to claim that you had a reasonable excuse in that you were attempting to prevent a possible fraud and that time was of the essence. A lawyer may shoot me down on that one, though.

Does that even apply? It was incorrectly addressed, not incorrectly delivered.
