Probably a silly question

I suspect it means Not Tested, but I could be wrong.
and no, its not a silly question0 -
I had a google, and came with the same answer as martinthebandit, in that it means 'Not Tested'.
I found other property ads with 'nt' next to things like an extractor fan - weird that you would think these things would be tested, unless of course the gas/electric has been cut off from the property. Which then raises another question that if they have been cut off is there a reconnection charge?0 -
Just because it works doesn't mean it's tested. You would need to be an electrician to test an extractor fan (and even then, they may not wish to say they tested it as they may be liable if it breaks down) - and they probably won't be able to measure air flow.
Most agents won't even switch stuff like this on.
If it's a rental, the LL would be liable anyway if it fails.
It you are looking to buy, you could spend a fortune getting all this stuff tested (and then the results will usually have a load of weasle words on it to limit any liability.e.g it's electrically safe but does it extract? you'll need an air extraction specialist to measure that for you). Usually you have to take a punt on most, based on the overall standard of the property ... and how much you trust the seller.
e.g. a new extractor fan would probably only cost £50, whereas a test will probably set you back at least that ... and you still have the old one which the test may inform you doesn't work!"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
