what do you need to claim for?... is probably an easier question.

there is guidance on direct gov about what you CAN'T claim for here: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/Caringforsomeone/DG_10018921

as far as i know, CCG will not pay for carpets..... (someone can come along and correct me otherwise!)

but yes white goods, beds, etc that is normally the kind of thing they will pay for. you have to provide prices for each item needed. they usually accept the basic priced items from argos catalogue as a guide.

i know this becuase i used to work in a housing association and thats the kind of thing new tenants had claims paid out for.

You can get a fridge, especially if you are unable to shop daily. Also, it is possible to get carpet in certain circumstances i.e if someone in the household has falls (i.e due to being older and frail or having seizures etc)
Cooker, sofa, (maybe curtains) beds, bedding etc are routinely awarded.
However, i notice you want a washer-this too can be difficult as social fund expect people to use the launderette-unless you can show that you have to do lots of laundry due to someone being ill (e. child or older person) or that you physically struggle to get to the launderette etc
    Good luck in any case

You can get white goods from the family fund and carpets. If you haven't used them before you might get the whole lot the first go.
