Diesel Engine Problem

I don't know what to say statman...have you asked them what exactly they did that convinced them this time that you need to spend £900 on parts?
If they say "we put it on the diagnostic computer" I'd ask ok, and what numbers did it measure, and explore their knowledge a bit. And maybe at some stage you'll be able to respond and say "So the £200 fuel sensor wasn't necessary?"
£900?? Sheesh, I got a recon short engine for a VW T2 Transporter for less than 2/3rds of that once! And at least I could understand what I was getting and why!0 -
Those sound like dealer prices. Have you tried a specialist garage (independent) instead? You could also phone round for prices. Sounds like a rip off to me.statman wrote:It is nice to know someone cares!! They have quoted over £900 just for the parts!! Gulp............
I give up!

Injectors are not that difficult to replace,if you are handy with a small set of spanners, and about half an hour of your time.
If they are certain that is the problem, take my advice, and get a local diesel specialist to do it for you,as you will find that it is a hell of a lot cheaper, and they may even be able to re-condition your existing ones.
Or if you can do it yourself, then price up the injectors elsewhere, apart from Vauxhall, and get your hands dirty.
But if you do decide to let them do it,as it wasn't the £200 fuel sensor that stopped the fault, then ask them if they intend to refund your money on that!!!!!

I also notice that the injectors are also used in the Renault range of vans.

I think i will have a look at it over the Christmas break and introduce myself to the engine and see if I can make any sense of it!
Thanks for all the advice and I will be back to update.
Thanks again and a Merry Christmas0 -
I have a Corsa 1.7CDTi and until recently, the engine was cutting out sporadically when cold (and sometimes when warm).
After several weeks with the dealer (under warranty so didn't cost me anything) and ££££ of Vauxhall's money later, the high pressure fuel pump, injector rail and injectors amongst other things were all replaced and the fuel system and fuel tank completely cleaned out. 1800 miles later and it's running perfectly.0
