Honeymoon - huts on the water

Hi,
Once again I'm wondering if you lovely people can help.
I've always dreamed of going to Bora Bora, and staying in those huts on stilts over the water, I asked for some quotes, to see if it would be doable.
It's not least we been quote is £8000!!!
Has anyone found any amazing companies to book through where things are cheaper? Or can any one recommend a place that's as beautiful as Bora Bora?
I'm completely open to ideas, and can go for a max of three weeks, although if it were 3 weeks I'd want my baby to be with me! I think 2 weeks is the max I could leave her for, and even then that's pushing it!
Sorry I'm rambling! So, yes, any recommendations, tips or advice would be highly appreciated!

AFAIK
the Maldives have the huts over the water and I am sure you could get 2 weeks for a lot less than you have been quoted (I looked into it for our wedding and quotes including a wedding were much less!)
good luck and enjoy, it will be amazing!!!!!!![STRIKE]

I can't offer any advice but wanted to comment as this is where I wanted to go until I looked at the prices!!!
We're now looking at Thailand, Mauritus, Kula Lumpa and many more similar places!

The Maldives will definitely be able to come in lower than that quote. It can also come in higher depending on the island!
The weather in early Oct should be ok as well - chance of a rain shower but the temp is around 30.
To get an idea of prices have a look at Kuoni and Hayes and Jarvis. They may not be the cheapest but it can give you a ballpark figure.0 -
You wont get Bora Bora cheaper than that, it's an epic global trek which is why the costs are so high (and it is playground of the rich & famous). You can try the Maldives, I would recommend looking at Athuruga, remember that most islands have beach villas so you may want to do half in a villa and half in a water bungalow.
Borneo also has some amazing over water resorts but they are marketed mainly at divers (Sidapan Kapalai).
What about Fiji or the Philippines? Maybe even Thailand.
Very happily married on 10th April 2013

I had huts on stilts for my honeymoon in the Maldives. NEVER AGAIN!! It was soooo noisy I couldn't sleep and that was on the quiet nights! I would not have wanted to be there in stormy weather, that's for sure.
I really don't want to rain on your parade but do seriously think about it or at least pack ear plugsI can sleep through anything but the constant noise of water was impossible for me.
HAPPY HONEYMOON!:A

We stayed on the island of LILY BEACH in the maldives....they have a mixture of cottages some over the water and some landbased with plunge pools or open top bathrooms...
If you are looking then I would recommend that you think about all inclusive ...whilst it may seem expensive upfront it really does include everything and drinks when bought by the glass can mount up a large bill as they are expensive.
The weather in the maldives is generally very good...between may and october it is a little more likely to rain and be windy...but nothing like you would expect an english winter to be...we went in july and whilst there was a little rain it soon cleared to leave blue sky...I would liken it to short sharp showers...if you go between may and oct the prices are slightly cheaper as its not high season so it may be worthwile checking when the price brackets change to see if you get a better deal.
Another point...lots of the accomodations generally over water/on stilts wont allow children so that may not be an option if you still want to take your little one
We booked with virgin and flew with qatar..although lily beach is not marketed with them anymore they do have a very good set of maldive island to choose from...also have a look at kuoni as their packages seem quite reasonable too.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend0 -
Oh thank you, never really thought about the noise of the water, I'm an amazing sleeper, however my partner is not, though he does seem to be able to sleep through our daughters cries in the middle of the night....
How long do you think is long enough to spend there, I want to do a couple of dives, and possibly go whale / dolphin watching, but other than that I'm happy to laze about the beach.
Do you think 2 weeks would get a little boring?
I'm so excited! Only 15 months to go!! lolThoughts become things!0
