wall advice..

Hi I'm looking at taking a wall down between my kitchen & dining room to make one slightly larger kitchen. The wall is just plasterboard & studwork, but I'm not sure if its loadbearing or if I need to put in a girder thingy to stop the ceiling from drooping (technical term that is
).
What type of professional do I get in to advise me of this info? Is a builder enough or do I need a building surveyor?? Can I get someone from the council to look at it at a heavily discounted price (ie FOC!!)

Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning

How old is the house.? It would be highly, highly unlikely for a stud wall to be carrying any load. What is directly above that wall?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Hi Doozergirl.
House was built in the 70's, semi detached. Another wall is above this one, both walls run in the same direction. Just a bit worried that the ceiling might sag as the room will be 5 meters across from one block wall (dividing wall between the two semi's) and the brick gable wall iykwim. Upstairs is kids bedroom one side of the wall and bathroom the otherside. Bath may possibly be on top of the wall we want to take out.Banana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Respectfully, that isn't necessarily true. You can get load bearing stud walls. Any decent builder will tell you if its load bearing.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
