Microsoft security essentials or Avast

I have just had my laptop wiped clean as I was having problems (thanks to those who tried to help) and it has come back with microsoft security essentials on not Avast, I just wondered if it is recommended.

    Yes, it's one of the better free AV programs,
    But since they're all free, if you don't like it then you can remove it and use Avast or Avira as alternatives.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    using Avast here but mse does get decent reviews and it seems light on resources -- most people say.
