52 people and not one has highlighted the economic illiteracy of their inflation headlines. Last month they anounced that the cost of living had fallen when CPI reduced slightly (they've done that a few times actually), and this month they're telling us that the cost of living has remained the same as CPI was static. Idiots!

    Hang on a mo....

It's a matter of principle that even if it's only £10 a month, I resent it when at least £4 of that is wasted! A ratio that really adds up when you scale it up to Central and Local Government costs - equally wasted.

You know what annoys me more? Spending £130 on a train ticket and having to stand. Spending £108 on council tax and not seeing alot. Spending £5 on a tram ticket and then waiting ages for one to turn up with no explanation. My £68 waterbill gets on my nerves too, as does my £100+ gas and electricty bill. And don't get me started on my car costing £50 to fill up.

So £12 a month on the BBC? Something I actually feel I get great value for money for? Couldn't care less if there's a bit of wastage.

That is the attitude that has got this country into the !!!! it is in. Only a tenner here, a tenner there and you are soon a tenner over what you earn.

Oh, come on. My finances are fine thanks very much, and you're putting words in my mouth. Put plain and simple, for around £12 I'm really, really happy with the product I get from the BBC. So it's similar when I go to a restaurant I love. I know that the meal in front of me isn't worth £15 and could probably be made for £3, but I don't care as I'm happy. Same deal with me and the BBC. If you don't like it, don't pay it and get rid of your TV. :)

i only pay £6 a month for my tv licence cos the mrs pays the other half, so i get everything for half as much as you, i hope this makes you angry.

so far this year there have been 6 stewart lee programs on BBC2. i therefore feel that i have received value for money on my licence fee already, and it's only 15 june. i hope stewart lee features more in the second half of the year, even if it's just repeats.

it's taken a while, but i'm glad we've finally identified your frivolous attitude towards the licence fee as the root cause of the financial crisis 2007-date.

have you also been supressing the price of silver by any chance?

All those things would be cheaper if the director of creative fart noises wasn't earning 700k ;)

london buses are interesting, i haven't been able to work them out exactly because i use a monthly travelcard, but it appears if you want to pay cash on the day it costs about £2 or £3, but if you use PAYG oyster, it's about 60p. Seems odd.

Well, yeah, but I guess what I'm saying is that if you're happy with a price of the product do you care that much?

For example, I like to have a snickers bar every now and again. They tend to be on sale for about 60p. When I see one I weigh up whether I'm willing to purchase for 60p, and I generally see that as good value, so I buy one. I'm not really that bothered if the CEO of the company is bathing in champagne really, as I see the 60p as value. Same with the BBC really, even though they're a public organisation. It's £12 a month, which I think I get loads of stuff for. I guess with a bit of work they could get it down to £8 or whatever, but I don't really care all that much. Not a great saving for me, is it? My £130 train ticket on the other hand...
