Slight play in a lower suspension ball joint?

Its the one thing that holds the wheel hub in place at the bottom and if it fails you lose steering and suspension on that side and depending on what angle the strut decides to bend to, possibly the brakes as well. Not worth it for the sake of £100
This is what happens when a balljoint fails:
The scariest thing about that picture isn't that the wheel is hanging off; but they lifted the bonnet after it happened..... maybe it needs a bit of oil to slip it back into place; or water... check the water, maybe that'll fix it??0 -
and not even a mention of
the bald tyre
the shorts
the horrible looking engine with a torque tube and a washing up sponge on the end0 -

Is it still best practice to get both sides done at the same time or is it safe to just get the one done?
As it was only the offside one that came up as an advisory on my last MOT.0 -

Yes there are many issues when getting opposing sides done at the same time is important. This isn't one of them. I nick in the boot or something similar will have caused the issue, if the opposite BG is fine then leave it until it shows signs.;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

I changed just the ball joint on mine, cost me about £9 for the ball vs £30 for the whole arm, not a huge saving but I was happy to do it.
That was 3 years ago. You need the facilities/knowledge to do it yourself.0
