Courier conundrum

i need some advice -

I have won and paid for a large bulky heavy item (loads of leathers) through ebay... the item was coming from approximately 45 minutes drive away, and after discussion we (the purchase will be shared) decided that the courier would be preferable the picking up, as it would be packaged, easy to move easily stackable etc.... (cost in petrol approximately £10 as it is just down the road from my mothers MIL...)

i had to request the cost of a courier as fairly had they been shipped to Cornwall, they would have travelled further and the cost would have been higher. We were quoted £45, and added this to the total when paying.

they've just been dropped off totally unwrapped, and they were taken out of a boot covered with dog hair by who i am assuming is the father/husband of the seller as they signed their emails with a woman's name...

how can i politely say - hang on i feel you've robbed me on the postage costs here? please note they were happy to allow viewings, and if we had picked them up this evening we could had seen the mothers MIL had had tea (which is always a treat)... i'm really peed off as they are now strewn around my front room, in piles, giving me a leather smell headache.

it's the complete lack of wrapping that's peeing me off most - as i had just hoovered and i'll have to do it again now. (boxes would have fit in the hall, and i made a point of not hoovering there this morning as i have stayed in for a full day thinking it would be an 8 to 5 type deal with a courier...)

Difficult one as you paid to have them delivered and they were delivered. I assume the delivery was not dependent on them being packed and /or wrapped?

However there would be nothing to stop you asking seller if you are due any refund of the postage/courier costs as you feel you were over charged.

No it didn't specify however DHL wouldn't have picked them up in this state. And they gave me a quote for a courier not some random drop off... For that cost unwanted professional. With the silly box thing you scribble.

Not dog hair in my house and paranoia about flea bites.

They've literally filled the sofa and floor.

What items are they.
Are they covered in hairs, or are they still ok?

Some of them are quite mouldy - it will wipe off but they're not as amazing as I thought...

Always the way.

And no they weren't covered in dog hair but I am bit allergic, but to be fair it's also hayfever season so I can't pin it down to either.

Funny how it does...;)

It could actually have been a courier. I have a friend who runs a light haulage company - man with 3.5t flatbed transit. I've done odd "rush jobs" for him when he's been unavailable for his no1 client using my car delivering small parts from a local metal fabrication company and I billed at £1 per loaded mile meaning I got £100 for doing a 200 mile round trip.
