  • It's worth checking ebay and gumtree for anything like that. Unless you're desperate for a brand new item, you might find a second hand bargain with local collection.

Actually many of the water companies offer very good value water butts and composters as part of their green initiatives. Worth phoning your water supplier and asking

Local councils normally do compost bins - check their website. :)
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

A lot of local councils seem to doing a deal with getcomposting.com to do deals on water butts and composters - my local council (Leeds) has a link to them where they are currently doing a buy one get another half price deal - possibly worth teaming up with a friend / neighbour for - works out around £32 each for two 190L water butts with stands and rainwater diverter kits.

They're cheaper than I've seen them so far in the DIY sheds/gardening centers anyway.

Try googling your for your local council and "composter" or "water butt" eg Search for "leeds city council water butts"

Edit : I've seen links somewhere but can't quite recall where that it's not just leeds that is doing this - would be interesting to see if the price varies between councils but I suspect not.
