I'm an Aldi convert! Haven't tried too much of the meat, but cold deli meats are lovely.
They do a Ben and Jerry's alternative too at £1.99 per pot, and that's really yummy!
The Lacura range of toiletries is good too. Haven't tried any of the make up but I hear good things about that as well.
Aldi is cheap but I find the food on a par with the luxury supermarket products elsewhere.0 -
The meat is very good value but some of it is dodgy.
8 sausages for less than a pound in Aldi. I checked the contents. 42% pork, which I think is the legal bare minimum.
The best value however, is the ham. About 10 slices of good quality ham for £1!0 -
Ive tried aldi. not bad, i havnt tried their meat but will now. Dont rate lidl as much though. Had to do a week shop in their over xmas due to snow and found it more expensive.0

I love Aldi and Lidl I shop at both for the fruit and veg I just wished they had websites in line with the other's so I know what they actually have in. Also they could go one step further and show how much stock they have in each individual store, it's one of my pet hate's I see a product online I really want and when I get to the shop they say they have none in stock. The worst for this is Sainsbury's.It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0

I don't really like to blow supermarket's trumpets too much but I had to post a comment about our local Lidl (we don't have Netto or Aldi). It opened about 3 years ago in a town with a Morrisons and Tesco. At first people were trying it out but slowly only the dedicated few would go. Now the carpark is busier then Tesco's!
As a young couple, we don't eat a great deal throughout the week so I don't mind shopping in any of the big supermarkets, however I find that the one that makes me smile the most when I leave is Lidl. I do not feel at all bad for spending money when I leave because I know I've saved loads!
My favourite items:
W5 washing up liquid - 59p the last time I bought it and as good if not better the Fairy
Lidl's tortilla wraps - around 50p
Ham with mustard/pepper - 69p for about 5 slices of real ham
Frozen Pizza's - £1.99 usually a two pack
Kitchen roll - £1.79 for 4 rolls which is better then the leading brands
Juice cartons 69p-79p - Lovely taste without being too sour
Cien Shampoo and Conditioners 79p - On par with Loreal and Pantene ( i've used so many throughout the years and this is my favourite)
All in all - Lidl's has saved me a fortune!!
