comparison sites - warning: price increases
I am with Scottish Power. Concerned about their increases from
1 August I used two comparison sites U switch and Which. I discovered that both sites have calculated the whole of my my annual bill based on the new charges rather than June & July at pre-increase prices.
If my calculations are correct this inflated my annual bill by about 40.00 GBP. Because I don't believe that other suppliers have yet announced increases I suspect that estimates of savings are therefore overstated.
I spoke to Uswitch who suggested that I was over-analysing but I believe that even such a relatively small amount effected any decision to change supplier. It is nearly the same amount as the contract penalties for changing suppliers. Any Comments?

Hi Lamanva,
Thank you for posting. Hopefully we can provide a bit more insight...
We calculate using post-increase prices in order to give people the most accurate impression of what they will be paying, so they are best equipped to make decisions moving forward.
In regards to further increases from other suppliers, they can announce price rises at any time, but we do not know if and when they will do so. (The very information that I'm sure would be the most useful to you!)
I hope that has helped.“Official Company Representative
