Payment for Ibis hotel booking...help

Hi. I made a booking last night for an Ibis Hotel for this saturday. I made the booking via Booking.com. Got the non-cancellation rate, so i presumed that payment would be made from my card straight away. Anyway i have just been looking at the IbIs website and it seems they dont accept debit cards! I have checked my bank and no money has been taken out. What happens now? If they cant take the money will they cancel my booking? I would like to think that they would call me first. Could i just turn up with my booking info and if they wont accept my card, then can i pay by cash? Am a little worried now :-s

Most hotels use your debit card details to secure the booking and will take payment either on arrival or at checkout depending on method of payment, if you don't turn up that is when they'll charge your card.

If you're still unsure call the hotel direct to double check the booking and when they're likely to take payment.

Quite often a hotel won't take payment of prepaid rates until a day or so before the booking.

But in your case you will surely be paying bookings.com rather than the hotel? In that case the hotel not wanting debit cards won't matter. And it is early for it to have gone through if the booking was only made last night - it often takes a few days.

Booking.com payments for non refundable rates are in fact taken at the hotel. (Not the case with all on line agents e.g. lastminute are different).

However, it depends on whether there is a direct connect between booking.com and the hotel's booking systems. (I dont know for IBIS, I know my last hotel went direct connect in the last year).

If there isnt, it is a manual process/booking is emailed to hotel and hotel processes it, including taking the payment if it is a prepayable rate. This might cause a short delay depending on if these are booked in centrally or at each hotel.

Just ring the hotel up and ask them if they have a booking for you, and if everything is in order. Very easy to sort out. If not, check with booking.com to see what happened.

Is this the Ibis at Birmingham airport?

If so, they take the debit card details so if you don't turn up and you've not cancelled, they can take the payment from you - you actually pay the hotel direct when you get there - when we arrived, they said we would pay on departure but as we were leaving at 6am, I asked if I could pay then to save any messing around so early in the morning and we did that.

We had booked a double bed but when we got to our room they were twins! As this was supposed to be the start of a romantic child-free weekend away I asked at reception if they could do anything and we were moved straight away to a double room.
