Hi there
I am new to using a bread maker and i have used a sweet bread mix which uses milk and 1 egg successfully in the day but would like to use it with the timer function to wake up to fresh bread. The program runs for 3 hours and i would like it ready for 7am so i want to delay the starting till 4am i go to bed about midnight - if i put all the ingredients in at midnight would the milk and eggs be ok sitting there till 4am?
should i put these ingredients in cold so they have time to warm up to room temperture? or is it dangerous to leave fresh ingredients out this long? will it affect the yeast in the bread mix. Any advice would be great thanks.

I'm not sure it would work successfully anyway as the breadmix in contact with the liquid would start up straight away. Breadmixes are not really suitable for the timer function because of this. That is why the instructions keep the yeast and liquid apart so they don't start up.
If you are not using a bought in mix but seperate ingredients the four hours might be OK though nights are quite warm at the moment. You would have to have the egg and milk as cold as possible - perhaps you could use a bit of ice. The breadmaker would keep the ingredients quite well insulated.0 -
Thanks Jay Jay - yeah i can see the point of the yeast being on the top and not making contact - its not possible to do this with the mixes (i live in Germany and we have so many of varities and they are very cheap indeed!) I will have to start making it with separate ingredients then or setting an alarm very early! lol The ice is a good idea and if the yeast is on the top i think this would work.
Thanks for taking the time to answer.
